Meet Isan And Winston Elba, Idris Elba's Children
The children of actor Idris Elba are starting to make their way in the entertainment industry.
At a red carpet event at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City for Beast, Elba’s new film which he co-stars with Riley Keough and Leah Jeffries, the actor strutted his stuff with his daughter, Isan, by his side. He was also accompanied by his wife, Sabrina Dhowre.
In the movie Beast, Elba’s children are played by Jeffries, known for her role in Empire, and Iyana Halley who played Annie Pearson as an adult on This is Us. But who are the actor’s real-life children? Let’s take a look at what we know about his daughter and his son.
Isan Elba
According to Hollywood Life, Isan Elba is the oldest of the actor’s two children. Isan was born in 2002 during the 49-year-old’s first marriage to Kim Norgaard.
Though she stayed out of the spotlight while growing up, AfroTech reports that she became a Golden Globe ambassador in 2019.
She also told Glamour that she’d like to explore the acting industry but prefers being behind the scenes.
“I really got to see all of the behind-the-scenes, like what the sound department does, the lighting department, the best boy, etc. I didn’t even know what a best boy was before,” she told the outlet. “And then getting to hang out with the producers, that was really cool. So I’m definitely thinking about being a filmmaker.”
Winston Elba
Born in April 2014 to Idris and Naiyana Garth, Winston Elba was named after the actor’s father who died in 2013.
Idris told Cosmopolitan that being a father was the most important part of his life.
“I love being a dad, it’s an important part of my life,” he told the outlet. “As much as it’s nice to be busy and working, ultimately children don’t raise themselves. You’ve got to be there to help them and guide them through it. That’s one thing I try my very best to do.”
