Maya Schmidt, Tori Bahr recognized as standout youth wrestling coaches

Apr. 1—BEMIDJI — Bemidji High School girls wrestlers Tori Bahr and Maya Schmidt were recognized as Northland Youth Wrestling Association State Coaches of the Year.

Barh earned her honor instructing wrestlers in grades 5-8. Over the weekend, she was recognized at the youth state wrestling tournament. Bahr's team won the state championship 60-6 over Region 2's Chatfield.

Schmidt led a group of wrestlers between kindergarten and fourth grade. Her team finished runner-up in the title tilt against Central Minnesota out of Region 3.

Bahr was captain of the BHS girls wrestling team during her senior season. Schmidt, a junior, competed with the Lumberjacks at the state and finished as an individual runner-up in her weight class.
