The Chicago Bears suffered their fifth straight loss of the season, an ugly 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens with backup quarterback Tyler Huntley leading a comeback.

But things were made even uglier when rookie quarterback Justin Fields suffered a rib injury during the third quarter, which knocked him out for the remainder of the game. Andy Dalton relieved Fields and threw two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Baltimore.

Unfortunately for the Bears, they have a short turnaround heading into Thursday’s game against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. That’s not ideal for giving Fields some time to rest his ribs, and there’s a decent chance we see Dalton make his first start since Week 2.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy told reporters after Sunday’s loss to the Ravens that the quarterback situation for Thursday isn’t clear at this point, and they’re certainly going to play it safe with the future of their franchise before subjecting him to further hits, especially as he’s the most-sacked quarterback in the NFL.

While Chicago might be shorthanded at quarterback if Fields can’t go with a rib injury, there’s a good chance Detroit will be starting backup quarterback Tim Boyle for the second straight game as starter Jared Goff nurses an oblique injury.

As if a Bears-Lions Thanksgiving game could be less appealing, get ready for a potential Andy Dalton vs. Tim Boyle showdown.
