ST. JOSEPH — Southwest Michigan-based Matt Lenny and his band, The Breakdown, will release their new album, “For the Birds,” with a performance at 7 p.m. April 22 at the Box Factory for the Arts, 1101 Broad St.

Joining the band will be Kalamazoo singer-songwriter Kait Rose, who added vocals to the album.

The monthly host of the Box Factory’s open mic, Lenny is a guitarist, songwriter and singer influenced by Muddy Waters to David Bowie.

“For the Birds” features a collection of songs exploring family, aging and the various paths that lead us home.

Based in Kalamazoo, Rose bares her soul with songs of personal struggle and strife. She has produced seven records, most recently 2022’s “Balance.” Her debut music video, “Bad Mother,” is a Michigan Music Video of the Year nominee.
