Matt Lauer's wife feared infidelity before they even got married: Report
It appears she saw this coming: Matt Lauer's wife had concerns about infidelity two decades ago, before they even wed, according to a People report.
“He was a player when she met him and she knew that,” a source who worked with Lauer said. “Even many years ago, he was a flirt, a philanderer. He did his thing.”
Annette Roque and Lauer wed in 1998, and she reportedly already knew he had a reputation as a "ladies' man" -- so much so that she actively worried he would be unfaithful in their marriage.
That said, it is unclear whether Annette was aware of the disturbing sexual harassment and assault allegations before they became publicly known last week.
Another colleague told People that despite nearly two decades of marriage, Lauer "was essentially a single guy."
None of the sources seemingly acknowledged that the claims against Lauer are not so much about infidelity as they are about unethical and potentially illegal workplace behavior.
Roque's father-in-law blasted Lauer in the press, telling the Daily Mail that his daughter are definitely not considering a reconciliation: "She is not going to stay with him and work it out," Henri Roque said. "They are not together trying to work it out."
He also dismissed reports that she had fled to her native Netherlands to get away from the press. "Bulls--t news. She's in America," he said, clarifying that she is in the Hamptons, where she's long been known to reside year-round.
