Matt Damon Calls Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s Relationship ‘True Love’

We all know Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are ride or die, so it’s no wonder the Still Water actor is repeatedly being asked about his BFF’s rekindled relationship with Jennifer Lopez.

In a recent press tour interview, the actor shared how he feels about Bennifer’s second time around. In short: He is here for it. “You’re very happy for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez,” Jess Cagle said on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, per People. “I know you love getting asked about that.”

“Right. But how else would I be? Like, would I be unhappy? Like, ‘I hate true love,’” Damon joked. “It sucks. Yeah. Yeah. I wish them nothing but, you know, hardship.”

In another interview on Desus & Mero, Damon revealed what has changed since the last time the pair were together from 2001 to 2004. Lopez and Affleck reignited their romance 20 years later and have been going strong since April 2021.

“I have to say, the press was particularly terrible to them, like, 18 years ago,” he said about the nonstop publicity surrounding the couple, per Entertainment Tonight. “What’s nice is that at least they’re being nice this time around.”

Damon added, “They’re on vacation right now, but he still responded when I hit him up about the Red Sox yesterday…. You still have priorities!”

Affleck and Lopez have been yachting around Europe in celebration of the “On the Floor” singer’s 52nd birthday. While they were most recently photographed in Amalfi, Italy (pictured above), the couple really made waves in St. Tropez on July 25, when they went Instagram official with a steamy makeout photo before recreating the even steamier boat scene from the 2002 music video for “Jenny From the Block.”

Recently, a source told People that Lopez and Affleck are “madly in love” and described them as the “the loves of each other’s lives.”
