Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick has said forward Matt Crooks is going to have talks with an un-named club in the United States.
The 30-year-old has scored 20 goals in 102 league games for Boro since joining from Rotherham in July 2021.
"I think every situation is different, and for this one it's an opportunity for him and his family, one he wanted to explore," he told the club website.
"We respected that, and, while it's not done, we'll see how it develops."
Crooks has made 31 appearances for Boro this season, scoring five goals, but has only scored twice since the start of October.
