Matheus Nicolau thinks he should be flyweight top 10 after win over Tim Elliott

LAS VEGAS – Matheus Nicolau beat Tim Elliott with a unanimous decision Saturday on the main card at UFC Fight Night 194 in Las Vegas.

“I knew the first round was for him because he put me on the ground. … I give the first round to him. But the second and third, I knew I got the victory.”

“Every win, at the moment, is the biggest. But for sure, Tim is a guy I’ve fought who has more fights, and big fights. He fought for the belt. He was ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ champion. To have my second victory in a row against a very tough opponent, this was one of the most important fights of my career.”

Nicolau on what he wants next

“For sure, (I should be) in the top 10. (I want to return) as soon as possible. I don’t want to rush things – I want to keep evolving. I want to keep a good pace fighting.”
