The University of Louisville's interim President Greg Postel has relieved both Tom Jurich and Rick Pitino from their jobs Wednesday.
Several reports indicate, and CardinalSports.com can confirm, that Jurich was told of Postel's decision this morning during a very brief meeting at Grawmeyer Hall on the Louisville campus.
Jurich, who is nearing his 20th anniversary with the school, has led Louisville from Conference USA, through Big East, AAC and now the ACC. He's been the bedrock of leadership at Louisville as the athletic department went from middle-of-the-road mid-major to one of the most profitable and powerful athletic programs in the ACC.
In dismissing Jurich, Postel has chosen to take the University in a new direction of leadership as Jurich's staff in athletics have all been hand-picked over the years as Louisville has built its program.
Postel has announced a press conference for 1 p.m. Wednesday.
