With just three games remaining in the Atlantic-10 schedule, Richmond looks to stay in the top tier of the conference. The Spiders control their own destiny to be a top-three seed and could climb to as high as a No. 2 regular-season finish.
But if Richmond doesn't take care of its business down the stretch, there is a scenario where the Spiders could fall out of the top four, meaning they would not have a double-bye in the conference tournament.
UMass, meanwhile, is trying to secure as high of a spot as it can for the Atlantic-10 tournament. The Minutemen are currently in the ninth spot and need to avoid finishing as a bottom-four team in the conference to ensure they don't play in the first round.
Freshman center Tre Mitchell, who scores 16.9 points per game, leads UMass into Richmond against Spiders guard Blake Francis, who leads the team with a 17.4 scoring average.
