Maryland men's soccer advanced in the Big Ten tournament Saturday afternoon in dramatic fashion, thanks to the heroics of one of its veteran players.
The Terps played Rutgers close, eventually having to go to penalty kicks. Redshirt senior Mike Heitzmann made the team's sixth penalty shot, giving Maryland a hard-fought victory.

The shot sent the Terps to the Big Ten semifinals, but it wasn't the only impressive goal of the afternoon. Early on, Justin Gielen tied things up with an incredible long-distance snipe.

Maryland now advances to play the winner of Indiana and Northwestern on Saturday night in the tournament semifinals.
