Marshfield wrestlers capture team title at Cottage Grove

Jan. 30—Marshfield had three champions and took the team title in the two-day Cottage Grove Invitational wrestling tournament.

Coquille had a pair of champions and North Bend and Myrtle Point one each.

Marshfield got titles by Garron Castro (106 pounds), Haydn Widdicombe (113) and Aryan Wright (175).

Reese Hite reached the championship match at 132 pounds, but was pinned by Jonavin Keller of Oakridge.

In addition, Treyton Forbes (120 pounds), Aaron Sinnott (165) and Richardo Chacon (215) all placed third for the Pirates. Wyatt Petley was fourth at 190, Christian Woodram was fifth at 113, Ethan Flood fifth at 138 and Gage Saxon fifth at 157.

Coquille's titles were won by Camaron Houston at 157 pounds and Tommy Vigue at 215.

Coquille's Brody Sherritt placed third at 106 while Riley Jones was third at 190 and Parker Lang was sixth at 150 and Kieran Sherritt sixth at 190.

North Bend's champion was Wyatt Smith, who took the title at 144 pounds.

Parker Pruett was third at 150 pounds. Nicholas Campbell was fifth at 132 and Gavin Walter was sixth at 285.

Myrtle Point's title was won by Logan Clayburn at 285 pounds. Jonathan Padgett was sixth at 215.

Trevor Lasater was sixth at 157 for Gold Beach.

Marshfield finished with 285 points, nearly 100 better than Madras. Coquille was sixth and North Bend ninth among the 23 teams.

In the girls portion of the tournament, North Bend's Kaylianna Mazzucchi was the champion at 155 pounds.

Marshfield's Elyssa Diego was second at 105 pounds.

Zoe Crabill was third for Myrtle Point and Siena Beckett fifth for Marshfield at 110.

Analise Miller of Bandon, who wrestles for Coquille as part of a cooperative partnership between the schools, was thir at 115 pounds, with Marshfield's Dollie Austin and Aniya Guyton fifth and sixth.

North Bend's Ilana Maguire was third at 120 pounds.

Coquille's Chloe Carr was fifth at 130.

Marshfield's Tailorann Brown was fourth at 140 pounds. Rowan Hampton was second at 145 for the Pirates and Azura Beckett was sixth at 170.

Myrtle Point's Jayme Padgett was second and North Bend's Jade Shilling fourth at 190.

Creswell took the team title, with Marshfield fourth, North Bend eighth, Myrtle Point 13th and Coquille 15th.
