Mark Cuban tweets encouraging update on Delonte West originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
After seeing videos of Delonte West falling on hard times, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reconnected with the former NBA guard and Washington, D.C. native in hopes of getting him back on his feet. If Cuban’s latest tweet is any indication, everything is going well so far.
Ladies & Gentlemen, I present to you, Delonte West . A long, long , long way to go, but he has taken the first steps and shared these with all of us as a thank you for the love and support. pic.twitter.com/555twAEVDP— Mark Cuban (@mcuban) October 9, 2020
The 37-year-old West, who played for Dallas and four other franchises over an 8-year NBA career, was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder in 2008 and has faced legal problems since last playing for the Mavericks in 2012.
Former teammates and coaches expressed concern for West after a troubling video emerged of the Eleanor Roosevelt alum in January. While Cuban warns there is “a long, long, long way to go,” this tweet shows West in what looks to be much better shape and on the road to recovery.
