Here's the latest on Mets free agent Marcus Stroman...

The San Diego Padres, a team many believed would make a run at the postseason this year only to fall off late in the season, will be looking for upgrades at pitcher. And according to The San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee, Stroman is on the list.

"According to people familiar with preliminary deliberations, the Padres are expected to pursue another veteran starter, with free agent Marcus Stroman having been among the names mentioned," Acee reported.

As a free agent, one would expect Stroman to use his social media platforms to generate some buzz and he's already doing so.

In a tweet from a fan talking about a potential reunion with the Toronto Blue Jays, Stroman said he'd be down to head back north.

"I'm definitely open to a reunion," he replied.

Stroman was the 22nd overall pick by Toronto back in 2012, where he spent his first five and a half seasons before his trade to the Mets during the 2019 campaign. He owned a 3.76 ERA in 135 games (129 starts) with the Jays.

Stroman told NBC Sports' Gordon Wittenmyer that "I want to be somewhere that wants me." And that somewhere could be the Chicago Cubs.

"The Cubs are always going to be a huge destination target," Stroman said. "Just because of the history of the franchise, how amazing the franchise is. And the city's one of my favorite cities. So I don't think he Cubs will ever have trouble getting guys or having guys that want to go there."
