West Texas A&M hits wild buzzer-beater to advance to D-II national championship game
West Texas A&M will play for the Division II men's basketball championship after a wild sequence in the final seconds lifted the No. 1 seed Buffs over No. 4 Lincoln Memorial, 87-86.
The Buffs trailed by two in the Final Four in Evansville, Indiana, with 7.5 seconds remaining to extend their season. Junior guard Qua Grant, who scored a game-high 25 points, drove into the lane on the inbound play in the hopes of tying the game.
Instead his shot went long and no one could get a hold of the rebound. A few players tipped it around and as it bounced up again, Grant came back in and tipped it out to the backcourt.
Sophomore Zach Toussaint snagged it with about 1.1 seconds to go and put up a 3-pointer.
It was good for the win.

Toussaint had gone scoreless in 28 minutes up until that point. He missed all four of his 3-point attempts and was 0-for-5 overall until the game-winner.
The made basket means West Texas A&M will play in its first NCAA Division II championship game in program history. The Buffs face No. 2 seed Northwest Missouri State, which won titles in 2017 and 2019. Northwest defeated Flagler, 77-46, in the Final Four. The title game is Saturday at 12 p.m. ET on CBS.
West Texas A&M isn't the only Texas program with a stellar buzzer-beater in the tournament this week. The Texas A&M women's basketball team advanced to the Sweet 16 with a full-court, game-winning drive by Jordan Nixon.
