24-year-old forward Mason Marchment was recalled to the Toronto Maple Leafs from the AHL’s Toronto Marlies on Wednesday, the club announced.

Marchment has appeared in 11 games for the Marlies this season, recording two goals and four points. In 111 games at the AHL level, Marchment has notched 27 goals and 56 points.

He has not yet played a game in the NHL.

The Maple Leafs’ next game is on the road against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, which plays some importance for the young forward.

Mason’s father is Bryan Marchment, who was selected in the first round of the 1987 NHL draft by the Jets and made his debut with the original franchise to begin his 17-year career.

After the Leafs re-signed defenceman Justin Holl and re-called Teemu Kivihalme — both Minnesota natives — prior to the game against the Wild, it became evident that the Toronto management want to create special moments for their players.

Marchment returning to the city where his dad debuted, to possibly make his NHL debut, should be exactly that.
