A Mansfield police officer suffered minor injuries Thursday night after a motorist ran a red light and crashed into his cruiser at North Adams and East Third streets, according to a Mansfield Police Department crash report.
Mansfield police Officer Jacob Rietschlin, 43, was taken to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.
Caleb Blevins, 22, of Mansfield, was traveling south on North Adams Street at 9:17 p.m. when he ran the red light at the intersection at North Adams and East Third Street, according to the police crash report.
Rietschlin was traveling west in the police cruiser, a 2021 Ford Explorer, on East Third Street on a green traffic light and struck Blevin's Nissan 2022 Frontier. Blevins did not claim injuries, according to the police report.
Blevins was cited for failure to stop at a red light, according to the report.
The cruiser suffered damage.
