Manchester United has its new manager. Maybe?

The club appeared to confirm the hiring of former United star Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on its official website late Tuesday, before the post was quickly taken down and the soccer world was left to speculate anew.

In the bottom left-hand corner, albeit in small font, it says “Solskjaer becomes our interim manager” which pretty much explains itself. Only the post is no longer live.

What gives the story even more legs, or just makes things weirder, is Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg tweeting (and then of course deleting) a congratulations to Solskjaer for taking over Manchester United, and declaring it a “great day for Norwegian football.”

So we’ve heard from United (kind of). We’ve heard from Solskjaer’s home country (sort of). We wait with bated breath to hear from fans, or pundits, or maybe even the bricks that line Old Trafford. But mainly we wait for actual news on this front.
