Man dies at lake in Peoria County

A man drowned Saturday in a lake where he owned property in Peoria County.

Peoria County Sheriff's Office deputies responded at about 11:36 a.m. to the 100 block of East Santa Fe Road on a report of a male swimming who went underwater in Santa Fe Lake and never resurfaced. The adult male owned property on the lake, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The man was later located in the lake and pronounced dead by the Peoria County Coroner's Office. This incident is still under investigation by the Peoria County Sheriff's Office. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Peoria County coroner at a later time, pending notifications.

Personnel from the Chillicothe Fire Department, the Peoria Fire Department's Dive Team and AMT also responded to the scene.
