Manchester City host Porto in their opening game of this season’s Champions League tonight.
For Pep Guardiola and his team it is the start of a fresh opportunity to banish their demons in this competition following more heartache last season.
Lyon, this time, were the side to undo all of City’s good work and hope, upsetting them in the quarter-finals in Lisbon.
But with more defensive quality this term, having acquired Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake, City will hope this is finally their year. First up is Porto at the Etihad, with Olympiacos and Marseille also in Group C.

Kevin De Bruyne, Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus are all out. Oleksandr Zinchenko is back in training and available.
Mouhamed Mbaye and Ivan Marcano have been ruled out for this one, but Wilson Manafá is fit and in the squad. Marchesín was a doubt for the draw with Sporting but played and should be fine here too.
