'It made me feel at home': 2025 CB Jett White gets offer on Ohio State football recruiting visit

Jett White's only connection to Ohio State football was Gerren DuHart.

The 2025 four-star cornerback out of Los Alamitos, California had built a relationship with DuHart over the past eight-to-nine months when DuHart was a graduate assistant at Michigan State. And once DuHart joined Ohio State's coaching staff as an assistant defensive backs coach, White turned his attention to Columbus — a city, he admitted, he always had his eye on.

But when White connected with DuHart on an unofficial visit Monday at Ohio State, what came next was very unexpected.

"I didn't come to visit knowing I was going to get offered," White told The Dispatch.

Ohio State's offer from the Buckeyes adds to a high-profile list that includes Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, Utah and Washington, among others. White is a former USC commit, who decided to change course on Jan. 3.

He is listed as the No. 64 prospect and No. 5 cornerback in the 2025 class.

White said what sold Ohio State cornerbacks coach Tim Walton was his work in isolation drills from his Under Armour camp. What Walton apparently liked about White's game is his length, smoothness, as well as the athletic ability of the 6-foot-1.5, 160-pound corner.

"My play, I will describe as smooth, but physical," White said. "(A) boundary cornerback with great length and speed along with some quick twitch in between."

White left impressed with how "family-oriented" the coaching staff was.

"It made me feel at home," White said. "And as a recruit, that's how you want to feel when deciding what school to attend."

White is one of seven cornerbacks Ohio State has offered in the 2025 class, including Buckeye commit Jonatae Gilbert and Faheem Delane, who recently put Ohio State in his top 11.

With an Ohio State offer, White said the Buckeyes rate "near the top, top for sure" moving forward.

"Ohio State will definitely be a major player in my recruitment going forward," White said. "I will be back in (the) fall for a game day visit and back next spring also."
