Mac Jones’ impassioned response to offensive criticism
The New England Patriots have yet to play their first meaningful snap of football, and there is already a sentiment that the sky is falling on the offensive side of the ball.
Yes, Mac Jones hears the critics, but he isn’t subscribing to the doom and gloom talk.
This isn’t the first time the Patriots’ quarterback has had people doubt him on the football field. In the past, he’s used that negativity as fuel to lead the University of Alabama to a national championship, get selected with the No. 15 overall pick of the 2021 NFL draft and earn a Pro Bowl nod as a rookie.
The start of training camp hasn’t necessarily been ideal for the Patriots offense, but Jones still firmly believes the team can figure it out and turn things around.
“I’m going to figure it out. I always have. I always will. At the end of the day, you’re going to have your ups and downs with anything new. … When there’s 10 people that look into my eyes, I know they’re going to trust me to do the right thing on game day.”

Jones is playing without Josh McDaniels, who was there for him as his offensive coordinator in his rookie year.
That kind of a transition isn’t easy for most veterans, much less a 23-year-old quarterback playing in his second year. It doesn’t help matters that the offensive line has been a complete letdown so far.
But so much can change between now and the start of the season. It’s still too early to be pressing the panic button.
