Sam Beal beamed on Monday after practicing with the Giants' first-team defense, moving athletically in space and tipping an Eli Manning pass to strong safety Jabrill Peppers for an interception. The 2018 supplemental draft pick from Western Michigan missed all of last season after surgery on his right shoulder, and now he's finally healthy enough to prove what he can do. “I got a hand up there,” Beal, 22, said of the tipped pass. The Giants hope that's the case, because Beal's presence could mean the difference between a deep and competitive secondary or another thin defensive backfield.
