CHICAGO - Scott Heineman rushed to Arlington Monday, got in an afternoon workout at first base, started there that night and played all 11 innings of a game that butted up against midnight. He was back at work Tuesday less than 12 hours later to play both ends of a day-night doubleheader. Wednesday the Rangers played, then jetted off to Chicago. Maybe the dizzying pace was for the best. Had he too much time to think, his mind could have wandered off into some difficult places. Instead, he arrived in Chicago Thursday still buzzing and ready to be part of “Players Weekend,” designed to allow players' personalities to shine through with nicknames on the back of jerseys and custom-painted cleats.
