The veteran, Alvin Robertson, arrested the day before, made the Raptors' first basket and led them to a win over the New Jersey Nets. There was so much to be excited about back then. So much unknown. The legend, Isiah Thomas, cool and in charge. The rookie, Damon Stoudamire, looking like a steal from the first night on. The city trying to figure out what it was like to have a pro basketball team in Toronto and Vancouver and how that might change everything about sports in the country.
