The Miami Dolphins and defensive end Olivier Vernon were destined for a re-union this upcoming season. At least it feels that way after Vernon was traded from an NFC team on Miami's upcoming schedule (the New York Giants) to a non-divisional opponent within the AFC (the Cleveland Browns). And as the Dolphins' regular season kickoff moves to 50 days away, now feels like a good time to revisit Vernon and the Dolphins' decision to let him walk away in free agency back in 2016. It was understandable, letting Vernon walk out the door. Once the numbers were apparent on what it would take to bring Vernon — a Miami Hurricanes product — back to South Florida, the Dolphins didn't have much of a chance.
