The Miami Dolphins have a new coach who is taking the defense in a different direction and veteran linebacker Kiko Alonso may not be along for the ride. A change in philosophy, the emergence of younger linebackers and Alonso's 2019 salary could result in the release of the former Oregon Ducks' star, according to a report. Alonso, 29, led the Dolphins with 129 total tackles in 2018, his highest number of tackles since he posted 159 during his rookie season in Buffalo in 2013. Brian Flores, the Dolphins' first-year coach, is installing a new hybrid defense that reduces the number of traditional linebackers on the field from three to two while utilizing more defensive backs an increasing amount of time.
