One of the most successful partnerships in the history of NASCAR is nearing its end. Driver Jimmie Johnson and crew chief Chad Knaus, who partnered for a record-tying seven NASCAR Cup Series championships, will go their separate ways after the conclusion of the 2018 season. Both, however, will remain with Hendrick Motorsports in 2019. Knaus will take over crew chief duties for Hendrick youngster William Byron next season on the No. 24 Chevrolet, while Johnson will team with Kevin Meendering, the current crew chief of NASCAR Xfinity Series championship contender Elliott Sadler.
