When the Detroit Tigers traded Justin Verlander to the Houston Astros in 2017, there was an underlying hope that maybe, just maybe, Verlander would return to Detroit one day. If that day does come, it won't be anytime soon. Verlander and the Astros have agreed to a two-year, $66-million contract extension, which kicks in after the 2019 season.
