As all eyes inside MetLife Stadium and across the tri-state area were trained on Giants rookie QB Daniel Jones and Jets second-year signal caller Sam Darnold on Sunday afternoon, an unlikely offensive hero emerged for the guys in white. Rookie wide receiver Darius Slayton, continuing to build on his strong chemistry with Jones, had his most productive performance in a 34-27 loss. Slayton seemed to be Jones' first read on a majority of passing plays, and caught a game and career-high 10 passes for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The rookie out of Auburn had added motivation for Sunday's breakout performance. “I didn't play the way I wanted to the week before,” Slayton told NJ Advance Media.
