Kyle Hendricks was encouraged by his outing on Thursday night at Great American Ball Park despite the result. Hendricks was cruising into the sixth inning with a 2-0 lead against the Reds before issuing a leadoff walk to Billy Hamilton. After retiring the next two hitters, Henricks walked Joey Votto while pitching carefully to the Reds slugger. Scooter Gennett followed with an infield hit that second baseman Javier Baez saved from going into right field. Hendricks looks liked he might escape the jam, getting ahead of Eugenio Suarez with two quick strikes.
