California Gov. Gavin Newsom last month signed off on a law that when it goes into effect will allow the state's college athletes to earn money from endorsements and hire agents. Vikings defensive lineman Stephen Weatherly called that another step in the right direction for athletes who have helped make college football a billion-dollar industry.
