Zhaire Smith entered 2018 Summer League as a rookie. Smith left 2019 Summer League as a leader. “I feel like I'm playing more calm,” Smith said in Las Vegas. “I know what intensity to bring.” That balance of composure and strength shone through consistently in powerful performances from game to game at last week's MGM Resorts NBA Summer League. Smith averaged 12.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 steals while logging 26.0 minutes over his five Summer League games. Starting in all five of those contests, Smith shot 48.0% from the field. Perhaps most important during summer league, Smith developed a quick chemistry with teammates -- becoming an easy target for lobs and camera flashes.
