Selected by the Boston Red Sox as a prep pick in the 8th round of the 2015 draft, lefty Allen made an immediate impression in the GCL rookie league by tossing 20 innings, allowing only 12 hits, posting an incredible K/BB ratio (24K's, 1BB) and earning a callup to the college level NY Penn league. For comparison, that's pretty much what our first round pick Daniel Espino did last year. Highly promising, and his reward was to be immediately traded to the Padres in the big Craig Kimbrel deal. Once in the San Diego system, Logan established himself as a reliable starter with a good sturdy frame (6'3, 200), a 4 pitch arsenal (fastball 91-94, plus changeup) and rapidly advanced, hitting AA at the tender age of 20 (like Triston Mckenzie), earning a late season callup to AAA.
