DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers have more than half their projected payroll devoted to just two players. Oh wait -- that was the headline last year, too. For the second year in a row, the Tigers will enter the offseason with significantly more payroll flexibility than they had in the free-spending days of 2012-2017. But they also have two big albatross contracts still on the books -- $55 million devoted to Jordan Zimmermann and Miguel Cabrera, two veteran players who produced -0.3 bWAR in 2019.
