Sabres add another assistant to their coaching staff

The Buffalo Sabres have made another hiring to the team's coaching staff on Wednesday, bringing in former Carolina Hurricanes assistant coach Steve Smith to the same role. Smith has spent nine years coaching in the National Hockey League, serving as an assistant with the Hurricanes, the Edmonton Oilers (2010-14) and the Calgary Flames (1997-98). Smith also spent some time as a scout in the Chicago Blackhawks organization from 2008 to 2010. With the Hurricanes, Smith was responsible for the team's defense and penalty kill under head coach Bill Peters.
