Two weeks into Phase 2 of the NHL's return plan, the feasibility of finishing the 2019-20 season is starting to gain clarity. As players across the league go through voluntary workouts in small groups, adhering to a list of health protocols meant to combat COVID-19 infection, it's gone from a complete unknown to a definite maybe so long as we attach a couple of qualifiers. "I think we have to remain somewhat optimistic," said Blue Jackets center Pierre-Luc Dubois, one of 10 players going through Phase 2 workouts in Columbus thus far. The NHL and the players, union, the NHLPA, have agreed to a 24-team format to conclude the season but still have a few hurdles to clear before training camps start next month (no sooner than July 10).
