Erik Karlsson has re-signed with the San Jose Sharks and that gigantic sigh of relief you just heard came from Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion. Come July 1, he doesn't have to pretend that he's chasing a two-time Norris Trophy-winner. That's what would have happened had Karlsson gone to market. There would have been pressure for the Senators to tender an offer, to show fans that they intended on bringing him back, that they cared about winning regardless of the cost. None of that was true, of course.
