2019 started off very positively for Severino when he and the Yankees were able to avoid arbitration while reaching a four-year contract in mid-February. With his new deal in hand, Severino was primed to start Opening Day, and the Yankees had locked up a member of their young core for the immediate future. With all that optimism, there were still a lot of questions for Sevy to answer about his long term status as a top of the rotation starter.
