Turns out the LSU-South Alabama football game that got blown away by the Hurricane Matthew saga was not canceled but merely delayed — nearly eight years. Both schools announced Wednesday that they will play in Tiger Stadium on Sept. 28, 2024. The game will be the first meeting in football between LSU and South Alabama. The Tigers and Jaguars were scheduled to play on Nov. 19, 2016. But that game was scratched when LSU and Florida had to juggle their schedules to play after LSU's scheduled trip to Gainesville on Oct. 8 that year was postponed by the threat of Hurricane Matthew. Neither LSU nor Florida had a common open date, so both schools cleared the Nov. 19 weekend to play a game in Tiger Stadium.
