How lucky have the Boston Celtics been in recent NBA draft lotteries?

With the 2023 NBA draft inching closer with each passing day, fans of the Boston Celtics have little need to worry about lottery luck this season with no first round pick to use this summer. It might still smart to see the San Antonio Spurs in line to draft another generational talent in Victor Wembanyama after having bad lottery luck in Tim Duncan’s draft class.

According to an analysis by Hoops Hype’s Frank Urbina, the Celtics don’t have especially bad luck in terms of the draft, coming in as the 13-most lucky ball club after having moved up in the lottery one time, down 4, and staying in the same spot as where their record would have had them selecting a total of 10 times in the last 15 years.

If it seems like the Spurs have peculiarly good luck in the draft lottery, it is not just you, though.

In Hoops Hype’s assessment, they came out as the No. 1 team in terms of lotto luck over the same period of time.
