The New England Patriots front office will no doubt be paying close attention to the LSU vs. Clemson showdown Monday night in New Orleans.
LSU will square off against defending champion Clemson in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and there are many players on both teams who will be playing on NFL Sundays in the near future.
In fact, one of the Patriots' primary offseason needs is upgrading their talent and depth at wide receiver, and the 2020 draft class is one of the deepest in terms of wideout depth in a long time. Two wide receivers playing Monday night who the Patriots could target in April's draft are Clemson's Tee Higgins and LSU's Justin Jefferson. Higgins is projected to be a first-round pick, while Jefferson likely will be selected in the second round.
There are several other talented draft prospects on these teams, especially on defense, where LSU's Jacob Phillips and Clemson's Isaiah Simmons both have impressed at linebacker. The Patriots could need to add a few linebackers to their roster for the 2020 season depending on what happens with veterans Kyle Van Noy and Jamie Collins in free agency.
