LSU falls in On3’s SEC power rankings after Alabama loss

LSU had the chance to gain the inside track in the SEC West on Saturday night, but a 42-28 loss at Alabama functionally ended any hopes this team had of returning to Atlanta as it fell to 6-3 on the season.

If the Tigers had pulled off the upset against the Crimson Tide for the second year in a row, they likely would have been pushing for the No. 2 spot in most SEC power rankings.

Instead, On3 has LSU dropping down one spot behind Tennessee to No. 5 in the latest power rankings.

LSU doesn’t move down far this week after a loss to Alabama. It went back and forth and Jayden Daniels ended up getting hurt, so who knows how it would’ve been?

Unfortunately, LSU is out of the running of the SEC West for the second straight year. Three losses kind of stings after the expectations going into the fall. Still, Brian Kelly and crew can finish strong.

LSU still has the chance to close out the season on a high note, but any hopes of raising the ceiling this fall have ended.
