LSU, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, defeated 12th-seeded Kentucky in the early hours of Friday morning, 11-6. After falling behind 2-0, the Tigers (38-18) scored nine unanswered runs to pull away from the Wildcats and maintain a spot in the winner's bracket heading into Friday.

Tennessee (50-7) defeated Vanderbilt on Thursday 10-1 to reach the third round of the winner's bracket. The Volunteers scored five runs in the third inning and the opening seven tallies of the game to pull away from the Commodores and win their fourth straight game over their in-state rivals this season.
