LSU’s Angel Reese, Flau’Jae Johnson to represent Team USA at AmeriCup Team Trials

LSU women’s basketball stars Angel Reese and Flau'Jae Johnson are set to compete on the international stage this summer.

Both players were elected to participate in the 2023 USA Women’s Basketball AmeriCup Team Trials, according to a release from LSU. The event will take place from May 11-15, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Reese has previously participated in trials with Team USA, though this will be Johnson’s debut. Ultimately, players that are selected for the AmeriCup team will return to Colorado Springs in June for training.

In total, 22 players were selected to participate in trials. Those who are ultimately chosen for the team will compete in the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup from July 1-9 in Leon, Mexico.

Both Reese and Johnson saw their profiles increase exponentially after leading the Tigers to the program’s first national title. LSU will enter 2023-24 as the favorite to repeat, but the pair will look to represent their country and capture some additional hardware in the meantime.
