Lourdes ends season with impressive win over New London-Spicer

Mar. 15—ST. PAUL — The Lourdes girls basketball ended its season in style.

The Eagles, playing in the state tournament for the second time in three years, finished with a 45-38 win over No. 4 seed New London-Spicer in the Class 2A fifth-place game at Concordia University, St. Paul.

Lourdes, which entered the tournament unseeded and fell in the quarterfinals to No. 2 seed Albany, got a balanced effort against NLS. Lauren Hust had 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals; Aaliyah Williams had 12 points; Lily Davick had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals; and Caroline Daly had 7 points, 2 assists and 2 steals.

The Eagles led 25-22 at intermission.

Lourdes held NLS to a rough 16 of 56 shooting. It also outrebounded the Wildcats 38-27.

Lourdes finished its season 23-10. NLS ended 29-4.

Lourdes will bring back all but one of its varsity players next year. The lone graduate is starting guard Daly.
