Louisiana Tech announces revised 2022 football schedule after Conference USA changes
Louisiana Tech football announced a revised 2022 schedule on Wednesday.
All the non-conference games remain the same, but the eight-game Conference USA slate is revised.
C-USA had to adjust the schedules after making an agreement to allow Marshall, Old Dominion and Southern Miss to leave for the Sun Belt Conference following the 2021-22 academic year, as opposed to 2023.
That trims the 2022 conference from 14 teams to 11 teams in 2022. Six other C-USA schools have announced they are leaving for the American Athletic Conference in 2023.
The conference will add Liberty, New Mexico State, Jacksonville State and Sam Houston State in 2023.
Louisiana Tech will have its bye week on Oct. 1 and then will play eight consecutive conference games starting with UTEP on Oct. 8 at home, at North Texas (Oct. 15), home vs. Rice (Oct. 22) at FIU (Oct. 29), home vs. Middle Tennessee State (Nov. 5), at UTSA (Nov. 12), at Charlotte (Nov. 19) and home to finish the regular season against UAB (Nov. 26).
The Bulldogs will begin coach Sonny Cumbie's tenure with four non-conference games, starting with a trip to Missouri on Sept. 3.
