‘Lord of the Rings’ cast reunites to shut down racist ‘Rings of Power’ critics

The original “Lord of the Rings” cast has no time for those bashing the colorblind casting in the new “Rings of Power” series.

Stars Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan reunited with a message Wednesday amid racist backlash to cast of the Amazon Prime series: “You are all welcome here.”

The trio all donned matching T-shirts depicting the ears of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth creatures in different skin tones.

Co-star Sean Astin shared his own photo with a matching hat.

The belief that fictional, mythical creatures must be white has plagued the rollout of Prime Video’s “Rings of Power,” set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings.”

Among those facing the most backlash for their existence are Ismael Cruz Córdova, who plays Silvan elf Arondir, Sophia Nomvete, who plays dwarf princess Disa, and Nazanin Boniadi, who plays Bronwyn.

“I fought so hard for this role for this very reason,” Córdova recently told Esquire of the “pure and vicious hate speech” to which he has been subjected.

“I felt that I could carry that torch. I made sure that my elf was the most Elven, the most incredible, because I knew this was coming.”
