First up in our look around the sports world, congratulations are in order for quarterback Alex Smith who officially announced his retirement from the NFL after a 16 year career.

Smith’s wife, Liz, posted this video on Instagram to share the news. After suffering his devastating and life threatening leg injury, Smith pulled off an inspiring comeback in 2020 to play again for the Washington Football Team, helping lead them to win the NFC East and return to the playoffs.

Next up, it was an emotional night for Philadelphia Flyers’ Oskar Lindblom who was honored during warmups on Hockey Fights Cancer Night. His teammates honored the winger and cancer survivor by wearing jerseys with his number and watching him take his own solo lap around the ice.
