Seems like more movement on the LSU head coaching search by the minute. One name that was thrown about was Michigan State’s Mel Tucker, first brought into the conversation by Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports and The Athletic.

It appears that you could strike his name off the list. Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press is reporting that the Spartans are working on a 10-year $95 million extension. The connections with Tucker to LSU felt like some agent speak behind the scenes. We call it agent season for a specific reason, some information is thrown around to get their clients an extension.

The people in East Lansing are one step closer to resting a little easier knowing they are close to locking in their guy for the foreseeable future.

The deal surpasses the estimated $7 million contract of Penn State’s James Franklin that is the highest salary in the Big Ten in 2021, according to a USA TODAY salary database. Only former MSU coach Nick Saban at Alabama ($9.753 million) is making more this season than Tucker will under his reworked contract, according to the database. LSU’s Ed Orgeron is the second-highest-paid coach in college football this year at $9.012 million.

With Tucker gone, is it still the focus on Jimbo Fisher? Does Lane Kiffin come back into the fold? What about Dave Aranda?

A lot more questions than answers at this point but it feels like it is becoming more clear with each passing day.
